Year 3 - Mrs Hilton

Welcome to 3H!

Hello, I'm Mrs Hilton and I am delighted to be teaching Year 3 this year with the fantastic support of Mrs Rutherford, our class teaching assistant.

I have two young children, aged 8 and 6, and when I can prise them away from the Nintendo Switch we love to go on walks through the countryside where we live. When I get a bit of time to myself I enjoy sewing and reading. Over the summer holidays I made two flower girl dresses for my daughters to wear to my sister's wedding.

Here is our classroom:

Below you will find some important information about 3H. Each half term I will update the class page with important curriculum information.

Reading: This is a really important part of your child's development and helps them across all curriculum areas. At Wrockwardine Wood CE Junior School, we love reading and encourage the children to read for pleasure at home at least four times a week. Parents are asked to record this in the child's reading diary. It is important to check your child’s understanding of the text by asking them questions about the text they are reading (question prompts will be stuck into their diary if you are unsure of the sort of things to ask).

Maths: Being a confident mathematician is an important life skill and one way in which children can become more confident is to be fluent in their times tables. Children will practise their times tables weekly in class, however, any extra opportunity to practise is always encouraged! This can be done using Times Tables Rockstars - a website and app, where they can play engaging games and score points to progress their Rockstar status! Login information will be sent home with your child at the start of term.

PE: PE is a fundamental part of our curriculum and gives children the opportunity to learn new skills and work as part of a team outside the classroom environment. On PE days the children will need to come into school wearing their PE kit.

Thank you,

Mrs Hilton
