Welcome to 6J!

Welcome to 6J, I’m Mrs Jackson 😊

I have two teenage children and two Labradors at home that keep me very busy! My dogs are 4 years old; they are called Bertie and Daisy and they just love walks.  I love to read, my favourite book has to be ‘The songs of Us’ by a local author (who used to work here as a TA) Emma Cooper. My favourite children’s book, that I read over and over again as a child is ‘Shadow the Sheep Dog’ by Enid Blyton.

Introducing year 6:

Our history theme this half term is ‘Fallen Fields’, where we will be delving into the history of Word War 1, learning about what life was like and what makes this period in history one of the most important modern historical events to take place. Our Love 2 Read text, will be Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo, a beautifully written novel about the life of a soldier throughout World War 1. In English we will start off with some descriptive writing, challenging your vocabulary knowledge.  As with every year, we will start off by revisiting place value in maths.  Over the summer holidays, it would be fantastic if you could aim to learn your times tables, remember this can be done anywhere and can be a fantastic car journey game!  Science is evolution and inheritance looking in detail at Charles Darwin’s theory of Evolution and what makes us - us!

I cannot wait to get started in September; we are going to have a brilliant year - enjoy your holidays.
