Secondary school admissions information
Parents of all year six pupils:
Children born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015 will start secondary school from September 2026. Parents need to apply for a Year 7 place by 31 October 2025.
Children start secondary school after the end of Year 6 in primary school.
It is strongly advised that you apply to four local secondary schools. It is important that you list schools in order of preference i.e. the school you want the most should be your first preference.
Applications are made online through the Telford and Wrekin portal Telford & Wrekin Council | Secondary School Admissions
Telford and Wrekin council have created a parents guide to secondary school admissions which details the application process, key dates and open mornings/days. Please follow this link to view

If you require time off school to attend an entrance examination this will be counted as an authorised absence following the below guidance from Working together to improve school attendance (applies from 19 August 2024) (publishing.service.gov.uk)
Leave of absence for the purpose of attending an interview for employment or for admission to another educational institution
Schools maintained by a local authority and special schools not maintained by a local authority can grant leave of absence, under regulation 11(4), where an application has been made in advance by the parent who the pupil normally lives with (or the pupil if they will be over compulsory school age by the time of the absence) and the leave is to enable the pupil to attend an interview for employment or admission to another educational institution.
PLEASE NOTE:
You must inform the school of the absence via the office on 01925387880 or via email [email protected]
This interview must take place during the session for which it is recorded for example if the entrance examination is in the morning session (before 1:15pm) then only the morning session will be authorised, if the child is not present for the afternoon session registration at 1:15pm then this will be recorded as unauthorised absence. If you foresee a problem in the timings please contact the school office 01925387880 or via email [email protected]
