Nala the School Dog
We would like to introduce you to Nala, a black Labrador who is our school dog. Nala is in school most days working with our children, she started working in school in 2021. Nala has undergone training and a final assessment with the Dog Mentor company.
The three primary areas of benefit for having a dog in school are; pastoral, learning support and reward. We have seen first hand the enormous benefits that caring for an animal has had for our children. We are very aware of Health and Safety planning and have developed a robust risk assessment and established routines to keep all members of our community safe and to ensure that Nala is happy and secure. We are very aware of Health and Safety planning and have developed a robust risk assessment and established routines to keep all members of our community safe and to ensure that Nala is happy and secure. We appreciate that there may be some children, parents and staff who do not wish, or are not able to be involved with our school dog. If, for any reason, you wish for your child not to be involved with her, please contact the school office to let them know. Please watch our short mock news report to learn all about Nala.
